The majority of seating cushions are in the softly tailored transitional style.
They are easy to replace with professional results.

For the best fit, take your measurements from your covered cushion.

Measure the thickness from seam to seam. If you do not have clear seams, you will most likely have a vertical seam in the back corners. It is a good idea to confirm your measure at a different spot. Decide how full you want your finished cushion. For a snug fit (when using the high density foam), we recommend adding 1/2 inch to the length and width measurement. To give your cushion a crown (area above and below the seam to seam thickness measurement, add 1 inch for a slight crown or 1-1/2 inch for higher crown.

If you are not using high density foam you may want to add an extra 3/4 inch to 1 inch to the side measurements and 1-1/2 to 2 inches to thickness. Keep in mind if the foam is too large for your cover you can run into zipper problems. (Also, when stuffing the cushion make sure you fully unzip your zipper and take care when stuffing) The material from which your cover is made of will also make a difference. Look at your fabric cover has it held its shape or stretched a little? If it has stretched you may want to adjust upward your dimensions.

If it has held its shape use the above recommendations as a guide. Special consideration for leather or vinyl. They do not breath and stretch like fabric and will make the foam feel firmer; for furniture seating a 35lb softer compression is a good foam choice. Many leather covers favor a looser fit. Downward adjustments to the recommendation above should be considered.

TIP #1

If you are adding a Dacron fiber wrap: We do not recommend figuring an allowance for the Dacron fiber. If you are applying fiber on the top & bottom of your cushion it will add about 1/2 inch to the overall measurement, it will began to lose loft (thickness) as it settles. We use a .75 oz weight premium fiber.

When Dacron fiber wrap is bonded to your foam it will give a softened sculptured look to your upholstered furniture. It will reduce the fabric to foam friction, extending the life of your fabric. The addition of the fiber wraps makes pulling the cover on easier. The fiber is bonded to the foam using a water based adhesive that meets Greenguard Air Quality Certification.

TIP #2

When adding a rounded edge, add 1/2 inch to depth (front to back).

Some cushions have fitted tails at the rear.

Measure the pattern or base and add a minimum of 1/2 inch to the diameter. The finished upholstered edge can be more boxed or rounded depending on how tightly the fabric is pulled.

MAKING A TEMPLATE

If you have an inside or outside curve or cut outs, we can cut from your pattern. On a heavy weight paper, trace your cushion pattern (take care not get ink on your cover), half a cushion is fine just so we can see 3 sides as pictured. Place your order and e-mail bestfoam@msn.com to let us know you are sending a template. Clearly mark your name and order number on your paper, roll it, place in mailing tube and send it to us.

Be sure to include your name, contact information, and the order number if you have one.

Due to the nature of custom work, it is the customer's responsibility to measure correctly. If your measurements are not accurate we can not be responsible. Contact us, because some mistakes are easily corrected. If you Feel that we have miss-cut, we will need you to return it to be measured. If we are in error we will send out your replacement as quickly as possible with free shipping and refund your return shipping charges. (e-mailing a digital photo of the cushion with a tape measure clearly showing the dimensions will speed up the process.)
