Environmentally Friendlier - Green Processed Foam

The next generation of foam has arrived and it is going green.

The color and the quality didn't change, but the manufacturing process just got friendlier. Foam is considered green if it is manufactured without emitting harmful chemicals. (CFC's, freon, methylene chloride)

And Natural soy and corn oils are being used as replacements for some petroleum based chemicals, with the added benefit of supporting the domestic economy while reducing dependence on foreign oil.

Product Selection

How to begin your product selection for upholstered furniture

To get the support and feel want, you will first need to determine the density needed. This is expressed by the first two numbers.
For good support and longevity in seating or thinner back applications, we always recommend the 2.7-2.8 lb high density foam. Lower densities will work well for most backs and softer effects can be achieved.

Next, determine the firmness desired (ILD or compression). This is expressed in the last two foam numbers. The higher the firmer.

These numbers are rated for performance at 4 inch of thickness with an average weight of 165 lbs. For best performance on seating we recommend F2735 med soft, F2845 firm (most chosen at 4") and F2860 extra firm. The firmness (ILD) will feel softer under 4" and firmer over 4". You may want to adjust these numbers based on the thickness of your piece and the weight to be supported.

Dacron Wrap

	Dacron Fiber Wrap When .75 oz. Dacron fiber wrap is bonded to your foam it will give a softened sculptured look to your upholstered furniture. It will reduce the fabric to foam friction, extending the life of your fabric. The addition of the fiber wraps makes pulling the cover on easier. If you are adding a Dacron fiber wrap: We do not recommend figuring an allowance for the Dacron fiber. If you are applying fiber on the top & bottom of your cushion it will add about ½ inch to the overall measurement, it will began to lose loft (thickness) as it settles.
